Our Ministries

Sunnyside is a church body, that is, a spiritual family focused on growing in our relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ. So our food closet is a spiritual ministry with practical effects. This is what distinguishes a lifeless religion from a relationship oriented faith. If you are looking for a place to learn of Christ , we welcome you.

Special Welcome
We appreciate those of you who serve others. If you are in the military, a government employee, an emergency worker, in law enforcement, a waiter, in the medical field or a public servant of any kind, we want to say “Thank you.” If you are new to Cheyenne, you have made a good choice and we are glad God brought you here. In particular, if you are moving here due to a permanent change of station (PCS) to F. E. Warren Air Base, we want to welcome you to our city.

Deacons
In line with the scriptures from Acts 6:1-6 and 1 Timothy 3:8-13 we understand deacons to be servants. Our men who serve in this capacity see their roles as servants who lead others into serving others by example. They work at bringing unity, meeting needs and freeing our pastors to be able to spend time in prayer, study and preparation for leading us in worship and ministry.

Pastoral counseling
All our pastors are willing to sit down with anyone and look at God’s Word and at life to find answers and direction. They will seek wisdom from the Father, will keep your situation confidential to Him, and will recommend other people with wisdom as well as reading material that may be helpful.

Food closet ministry
We collect canned and dry food products each quarter, more specifically during every month containing five Sundays, and stock a food closet. We give that food away to any who need it. Recipients may come once each month, Mondays through Wednesdays from 9 am until 4 pm.

Homebound ministries
Homebound Ministries provides services in our Nursing Home, Assisted Living campus. They bring music, prayer, scripture and devotion every week.

Sunday School
Every Sunday morning after our worship time, we break into small groups and study the Bible. We have a variety of classes for all ages. Our teachers are competent and we try to build some good friendships within the groups.

Wednesday meals
Most Wednesday evenings we begin our time together with a good-tasting, healthy meal together. We usually start eating at 5:30 so we can have time to do some other things, and the price is so low that if you have no cash, the pastor will buy your meal!

Senior Adult Ministries Senior Adult Ministries (S.A.L.T. – Senior Adults Living Triumphantly) This group gets together every other Thursday for Bible study, singing, food, fellowship and more. We go to concerts a lot. This group is open to anyone that enjoys fellowship with our seniors.

SALT Singers

Vacation Bible School
We do two VBS’s each summer. One is our Family VBS, and it is geared for everyone. Kids, parents, singles, grandparents… everyone! We eat together, meet together and then divide up into age groups before regrouping. Our drama team puts on a show and we all do some hands-on projects.

In addition, we offer a traditional children’s VBS full of fun, cookies, education about Jesus, cookies, crafts, cookies, recreation, cookies and music. Also, there will be cookies.

Youth
You ought to see what happens here if you are a teenager! Go to our “Youth” page for a taste! Then come experience it for yourself. And if you are too old to be IN the youth group, come help out!

Family
God made us in relationships. The first relationship is with Him. The second in importance is with family. Our approach is becoming more and more family focused, and it shows. All children are welcome in our worship times together, and we provide competent childcare as well, if parents want to utilize those services. Each year we enjoy a Family Vacation Bible School where kids, parents, grandparents and singles all learn and play together. Our youth are invited to be involved in ministry alongside our adults. We do family ministry projects and mission projects as well. We periodically design programs to help with parenting, marriage, friendship and other relationships, in addition to consistently studying God’s Word about those topics as we go through our regular Bible studies.

Men's Ministries
Tuesdays at 1 pm our men meet for pizza and passages at Pizza Hut WingsStreet (4503 Western Way, just south of the Lincolnway/Pershing intersection).

All of this is open to any who want to come.
