Max Janzen, Senior Pastor - E-mail

I was born in 1960 to a wonderful mom and dad who love Christ. They raised me in Texas and Oklahoma between two sisters and led me to Christ in 1970. I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1981 and earned a masters' degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. I have been involved in short-term missions ranging from one to six weeks in length in Austria, Canada, Germany, Mexico and Switzerland. Sunnyside Baptist Church is the third church I have pastored, and my family and I came here in 1996. Before that we served in Tucson, Arizona and then in Custer City, Oklahoma. The most apparent gifts of the Spirit in my life at this time seem to be mercy, teaching, and exhortation. I tend toward the sanguine side of life and am thoroughly in love with my first wife, Lynne. Lynne married me in 1986. Our two incredible boys Jarret and Cole were born in 1990 and 1993. I am probably the most privileged person here at Sunnyside. That’s because I get to work personally with more of the people here, and with more leaders than any other one individual in our Sunnyside family. I have served as lead pastor here since February 1996, and I hope I get to serve you as well.

I believe God has special plans for us as a part of God’s Church in Cheyenne, and I would be a member here even if I were not the pastor. Here is a brief note on who I am and where I tend to lead us. Feel free to contact me at pastor@SunnysideCheyenne.org.

I am a farmer’s child who was raised in the church and then found Jesus. Being raised on a farm and ranch I soon realized the importance of a Gracious God. I was raised in a family of three boys, each an individual, but who understood the need for each other. In that environment I began to understand the importance of being raised in Christ and how my parents understood the importance of raising a child up in the Lord.
